google docs

I attempted to use Google docs to help my husband with a job application he is dealing with. The form is in .pdf and should download to Google docs-but doesn't. Actually, I've tried it at home with my earlier version of Adobe and I've tried it at the library. I'm not doing something right, apparently.

The 2.0's

I've been reading about library 2.0 and Internet 2.0. I think it basically is making it fluid, adaptable able to meet the needs that arise of those who use it. It involves not thinking of either system as concrete and solid but changeable. This is understandable because everything is evolving so quickly. I think there needs to be some controls set to avoid anarchy, which I'm sure some people would enjoy. Also, there has to be some way to verify what is true, such as in using Wikipedia. Someone needs to be in charge of the store, it can't live on its own. (Mixed metaphor alert)

Want to see how badly I can make art?

All those years of art class...well, obviously this is harder than it appears. I have new admiration for anyone who does this sort of computer art well-very tricky to get a feel for doing small work with this (see above). Sad, sad, sad... I guess I'll keep my day job!

You Tube

This I am familiar with. I have watched various vidoes on YouTube that were music videos of some of my favorite performers and television programs. My oldest daughter had me watch several episodes of "The Daily Show" until it started showing up on Hulu, which I like as well. You Tube is a great repository of old videos and performances and a great way to access these things, especially for performers now gone who you'd like to remember.

Moldi

I went to the site and checked it out. It is apparently a way to download books temporarily so that you can read them online or on portable computer equipment, i.e. e-Books and other handheld devices. This could be useful for someone who likes to read online. I like real books to hold in my hand that aren't dependent on electricity or battery back-up but I'd check it out. Actually, I saw one at a class I took about a year ago downtown and got to hold it and read it. The print was very small, but possible it can be enlarged?

MP3

This is not a new technology, or not as new as those talked about on this exercise. However, my husband got one for his birthday. He's been depending on cd's and this is a step forward for him. Our daughter who has an ipod helped him program his device and also showed him how to operate it, twice already. She's very patient with us technology-challenged people. I'm curious about it, but I haven't tried it yet. It is a good concept, however, I like to have my media in hand, i.e., CD's, cassettes, albums.

Twitter

I signed up for Twitter. I let my kids know about it, which, of course, they already do, and none of them were interested in it. It's an okay thing, but too time consuming for me.
