23 Things

I'm finally finished! I have done a lot of checking and looking at new media. Some of the things I really like such as Delicious and Youtube. Others I don't really thing I'll use like Twitter or Flicker. It was a good experience and one I can discuss with others. Thanks for the opportunity to expand my horizons.

Podcast tools

I checked out several of the sites. I don't have an MP-3 player but my daughter has an IPod. It seems like the system is basically like a tv broadcast. If I'm watching things on the internet, I prefer Hulu or YouTube. Podcasts are okay but not what I like.

Power Tools

I read the Power Tools blog at our webpage and checked out several of the sites. Several I had already checked out, such as Delicious and Library Thing. But I also checked Book Burro, which seemed similar to Biblio.com and Digg, which is a news page. I plan to use Delicious so that in itself is a step forward.

Web 2.0

I checked several of the spots. Recently, I checked into Delicious and I plan to make use of it for my genealogy work-it makes my special websites portable for research away from my home computer. Also, I checked Biblio.com. It is similar to Alibris, which I have used quite a bit to order books. The prices there were very good and I noticed that a portion of the profits goes towards literacy education. I don't know how often libraries order items that are out of print-its not in my job requirement, but if they do, this would be a great site.

Del-icio-us

This is an intreging idea. Since I do genealogy work and I have a lot of good sites bookmarked on my computer at home, I'm going to set up the Delicious bookmarking so I can have the info with me when I'm working on the Family History at other places. That would help tremendously since I don't remember the sites all that well.
Great idea!

Maria

I signed up today to receive a regular blog report to read at this site regarding a woman I attend church with who has been having health problems and is in the hospital. It was set up by some of her friends and allows us access to her condition. This is a good thing-very helpful.

google docs

I attempted to use Google docs to help my husband with a job application he is dealing with. The form is in .pdf and should download to Google docs-but doesn't. Actually, I've tried it at home with my earlier version of Adobe and I've tried it at the library. I'm not doing something right, apparently.
